TripChord Privacy Policy

Effective: [Month DD, YYYY]

Draft — not yet reviewed by a legal professional. Items in [ ] are to be filled in with the operator’s details.
This is a translation for convenience. If it differs from the Korean original, the Korean original prevails.

Doyun Kim (“we”) runs TripChord and handles your personal information under Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act.

1. What we collect and why

Accounts (people who create trips or link their account): social sign-in ID, email, display name, profile photo (for Kakao, only if you agree) — to run your account and send leader links and notices. Your profile photo is shown to people in the same trip.

Name in a trip, answers, the plan and places — everyone in a trip. To tell people apart and to compare and agree.

Email for “results are out” (optional) — to send one email when results are shown. Deleted right after sending.

Email for “email me my link” (optional) — to send your link once. Deleted when you leave the trip.

Consent version and time — as a record of consent.

Access logs (IP address, device) — for security and fixing errors.

2. How long we keep it

Trips are not deleted automatically. They’re kept until the leader deletes them or deletes their account. When you leave a trip, your answers and access are deleted at once. If the leader removes someone, it can be undone for 10 minutes, then it’s deleted within a day.

When you delete your account, your sign-in details are deleted at once, trips you owned are deleted, and your answers in other trips are deleted.

To show the right message when a deleted link or trip is opened, we keep values that can’t identify anyone (a hash of the link, the trip ID) for one year.

Access logs are kept for the hosting provider’s log period ([N days]).

Backups are kept for [N days].

3. Processors and transfers abroad

We use the providers below to run the service; some process data outside Korea. Transfers happen over the network as you use the service, and are kept as described in section 2. If you don’t want your information transferred abroad, you can stop using the service or delete your account.

4. What’s stored on your device

Your language and per-trip access (a signed cookie) are stored on your device. Your display currency, ad display counts and a random ID for usage statistics are kept in browser storage.

During a trip, the home and plan screens are saved on your device so you can see them offline. They’re removed after 3 days, or when you sign out or lose access. On a shared device, sign out when you’re done.

5. Usage statistics

To improve the service, we record screen views and key actions (creating, joining, submitting, showing results, finishing the plan) with PostHog. We never send names, trip names, answers, the plan, places, links or emails, and we remove trip IDs and invite codes from page addresses before sending.

6. Ads

We don’t show ads at the moment. If we start, we’ll update this policy in advance, and we’ll still never send names, answers, the plan or links to advertisers.

7. Your rights

You can see, correct or delete your information at any time. Rename yourself or leave a trip in Trip settings, and delete your account in My trips. For anything else, contact us below.

8. Children under 14

People under 14 can’t sign up or join trips.

9. Security

We store only hashes of private links and invite codes, and invite codes kept for re-sharing are encrypted. Only our servers can reach the database. Private links carry the secret after # in the address, so it isn’t recorded by servers.

10. Privacy officer

Name: Doyun Kim · Email: hello@tripchord.app · Operator: Doyun Kim (individual)

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll announce it in the service 7 days before it takes effect.
